Zelda 64 and Pokémon x over Part 5 By: Vidalark When Ash and Co and Team Rocket had gathered enough rupees they all bought themselves a Kokiri shield, well Jessie didn't. James felt rather nervous about not having a real weapon which he could use to protect himself. Link noted James's nervousness and ended up telling him that he didn't really have anything to fear. It was then that Link remembered the Goron sword maker. "I think I know where we can get some better weapons for you guys." Link said. "Really where?" James asked. "At the Goron village. It is a long trip there and in order to get the swords you are all going to need to save up your rupees meaning that it is going to take even longer for you all to get your new tunics." Link said. "I don't care I want a weapon." James said in a whine. He had heard some of the Kokiri children talking about the dangers which Link had banished from their homes. He didn't care if he had a Pokémon which could protect him he just wanted to know that he could protect himself. What Jessie didn't know about him was that when he lived at home he had learned how to use a sword as a way to maybe deter Jessibelle from wanting him but as luck would have it for him she also was an expert swords woman and was always correcting him on his form. "Alright. Let me gather a few things and then we'll be on our way." Link said as he gathered some food items and refilled his canteen in the little pond that never seemed to run out of water. Link then realized something. "I have a question for all of you, would you rather take the scenic route or a slightly less dangerous route?" Link asked. "Huh?" the group had no idea what Link was talking about. "Never mind I think I had better take you guys the long way around." Link remembered that if any of them got lost they could turn into Stafolos and he didn't want that not that anything would happen to him. Link then led them all out the way they came in and they all mounted their horses which faithfully had waited for them at the entrance of the log tunnel. It was night time now and Link knew that the dangers which he had to face as a child were now gone but the Big Poes which he hadn't gotten rid of could cause problems and the regular Poes could also be bothersome. Anytime they were in an area that Link knew that they could get something helpful on the road he made them stop and rid the area of grass and rocks. By the time they reached the wooden bridge that linked the two pieces of land the group had quite a bit of rupees and Link's magic was at full. The sun had begun to rise in the sky and everyone but Link, Navi, and the horses which they rode were tired. "I need to get my beauty sleep." Jessie said as she leaned tiredly on the neck of her horse. "I'm so sleepy." Misty yawned. "Can't we go to sleep for a little while?" Ash asked. "When we get to Kakariko you guys can take a short nap while I go and do some things." Link said as he dismounted Epona in front of a large stair well that was carved out of the hill side. "Great I need to get some sleep." Brock said. Everyone dismounted their horses and followed Link up the stairs. Link took everyone to a house where he knew that a kind woman would allow his friends to rest. There was a minor fight regarding who would be able to sleep on the beds but it was soon set up where they were all on the two beds together and in no time they were asleep. "Thank you for allowing my friends to rest here for the time." Link said. "It is not problem. You helped to save us all from Bongo Bongo so this is my way of repaying your bravery." the woman said. "Well I still thank you and I shall return in half an hour." Link said and left. Navi flew over Link's head. "Link where are we going?" Navi asked Link. "I need to do some thinking so I am going to go to Lake Hylia and do some fishing." Link said as he pulled out his Ocarina and played the Serenade of Water and was warped to the center of Lake Hylia. Link dove into the water and swam to the fishing pond. Link paid the man there and received a rented fishing rod. Link threw out the line and reeled in the hook. He kept this up for twenty five minutes and when he felt it was time to return to Kakariko Village he left the fishing pond and played the Nocturne of Shadow on his Ocarina. He appeared just above the graveyard and jumped down to the ground below. He ran to the house and when he got there he was a minute early. Brock however was awake. "Where were you?" Brock asked. "I went fishing." Link said. "Fishing?" "Yeah, I needed to think and the fishing pond was the best place that I could think of to do that." Link said as he brushed a lock of his blond hair out from his eye. "Oh, well when will we be leaving?" Brock asked. "As soon as your friends are up and if you all are hungry then after you are all fed." Link said. "Okay, you know I have a question, how come you don't seem to get tired." Brock asked. "I wish I knew. I used to be one of the laziest kids you could ever meet. I loved to sleep and play, but it seems that ever since the Great Deku tree summoned me I haven't needed sleep, plus it keeps the troubling dreams away." Link said. "Link, look." Navi said as she hovered over a pokéball. "What is this?" Link asked as he picked it up. "Oh that's one of Ash's pokéballs. It must have fallen from his belt." Brock explained as he watched Link turn it over in his hands in utter amazement. Link noticed a button and pressed it before he even thought to ask Brock what the button was for. "Squirtle!" the turtle pokémon bursted out from its pokéball from a red beam. Link quickly drew his sword not knowing what else to do. "Squirtle squirt SQUIRTLE!" (Hey you aren't Ash get away from me!) Squirtle said as it let out a blast of water. The stream was enough to knock Link into a wall and knock him out. "Squirtle stop it Link is a friend." Brock shouted. This woke Ash up and made Squirtle stop its attack. "Squirtle what are you doing out of your pokéball?" Ash asked the turtle pokémon. "Navi and Link found Squirtle's pokéball on the ground and accidently let it out. When Squirtle saw Link it kinda attacked him." Brock said. Squirtle looked down at its feet and gave a few sniffles to prove how sorry it was. "Aw don't worry Squirtle I'm sure Link isn't mad at you." Ash said. "Well he doesn't have any complaints right now." Brock said as he pointed out the unconscious Link. "Oh no what happened here?" the woman of the house asked when she saw the large puddle of water and the unconscious hero. "Uh it was an accident. We can clean it up." Ash said not wanting the woman to be mad at him or Link. "Alright but could you please tell me how all of this water got here? The well has been bone dry for seven years." "Freak rain storm." Brock suggested. "Ah, so the player in the windmill isn't crazy after all. He told everyone about a child who played an ocarina and it made a rainstorm appear out of no where." the woman said. "Uh yeah something like that must have happened." Ash said as he quickly began to dry up the water which, the still in plain view, Squirtle had produced. "My word what is that?" the woman asked as she pointed to Squirtle. "Uh this is a uh pet of mine." Ash said. He didn't like referring to any of his pokémon as pets, but at this time that was all he could call them without having any problems. "Oh. Well I am going to gather more water. When the hero awakens tell him that I said that he and you all are welcomed back anytime." the woman said and then left. "Phew... that was close. Brock how is Link doing?" Ash asked as he finished drying the wooden floor to the best of his ability. "I think he's coming around." Brock said. "Link, hello." Navi said as she flew over Link's head much like she had when she first met him. "Ohh... my head." Link moaned as he finally came to. Squirtle walked up to Link with a small cup of water which it had gotten just for Link to show that it didn't mean any harm. "Squirtle is really sorry that it hurt you. Squirtle just thought that you were trying to steal it." Ash explained. Link smiled and took the water. "Squirt squirtle squirtle?" (No hard feelings friends?) Squirtle asked as it offered its tiny paw to Link. Link took it and shook the hand of friendship. "I may not understand what you are saying, but I can tell that you just want to be friends. So Ash this is one of your uh Pokahman?" Link asked unsure as to what they were called. "Uh Pokémon, yeah this is Squirtle and water type Pokémon." Ash said. "I would have guessed the water part. Might come in handy against fire keese. Those suckers can really burn you badly if you aren't careful. The ice keese is also a bad bunch to go againt but I doubt water will do any good against them." Link said. "Well I have a Charizard which is a fire Pokémon but uh it doesn't listen to me." Ash said. "Maybe when we have to fight one of those things Charizard will do what you tell it, because you know how competitive Charizard is." Brock said. "It could work." Link said even though he didn't fully understand the conversation. "Yeah." Ash said with a huge smile. "Keep it down will you I need to get my beauty sleep." Jessie whined as she turned over and faced James. "I am sorry but it is time that you all got up because we need to start climbing the mountain before night fall because things can get rather bad after night and we should have a good head start before then." Link said as he began to shake Misty and James awake. "Just five more minutes." James moaned as he turned over and was now facing Jessie. "Pikaaa..." (Leave me alone I'm sleepy.) "Pikachu if you wake up I am sure we can find a nice treat for you." Ash said. Instantly Pikachu jolted up and shocked everyone else into consciousness. "AHHHHHH!!!!!" Misty, Jessie, James, and Meowth screamed as Pikachu woke them up. "You dirty rotten Pikachu what till I get my paws on you." Meowth roared as he chased Pikachu around the room. "Enough! You all can eat, gather some supplies then we have to get going." Link screamed. Though he was still in a semi good mood he didn't feel like listening to a fight. "Link is the boss, you had better do as he tells you." Navi said. "You all had better eat, I'm going to make sure our canteens are filled." Link said as he took out some canteens and headed towards the river. (Okay I know there aren't any canteens in the game but I figured that they need them in my story so I put them there.) When Link got back everyone had eaten in a painful silence and they were all ready to hike up the mountain. Link made sure that their shoes were still in good condition since he didn't know how much wear they had, had before they were given to them. their clothes were still in good condition since they were just made so after the quick inspection they were ready to leave. To be continued....
