From: "§ Akane739 §" A Vacation From Victory: Part 3, Chapter 12 Written by: Kasagi (Akane739@hotmail.com) ***Chapter 12*** “Look at all the stores!” Misty and Amber said simultaneously. “We have to go to all of these later,” Misty commented. “You said it,” Amber replied. Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Brock, and Amber were all walking down the side walk to the Rose Terrace hotel. “Uh, maybe later...” Ash and Brock answered in unison. “Okay, anyway, here we are, the Rose Terrace,” Amber announced. The lady at the counter gave Ash, Misty, and Brock the keys to room 173, and she gave Amber the keys to room 175, the room next to Ash, Misty, and Brock’s. “Hey, our rooms are right next to each other!” Amber exclaimed. “That’s great!” Ash, Misty, and Brock said. “Let’s get our put down our stuff in our rooms, then we can go get some lunch and go sight seeing or shopping,” Amber said. “Ooh, good idea! But we should go sight seeing AND shopping!” Misty said, and both of the girls laughed. Ash and Brock sweatdropped, but they just went along with the girls. As they went into the rooms, only one thing was on the mind of Ash, Misty, and Brock. “There’s only two beds!” they said simultaneously. “I'm not sleeping on the floor or sofa!” “Hmm...only two beds...that IS a problem...” Amber said with her hand on her chin, coming out of her room and standing behind Ash. “Well, we could take turns, one of us sleep on the sofa each night, and the other two can sleep on the beds,” Brock decided. “Or...we can have a Pokémon battle and whoever loses has to sleep on the sofa!” Ash said. “Oh no you don't! Let’s draw straws!” Misty said, getting 3 straws from out of nowhere. “Not that I was asked, but I think Brock’s solution is the best, guys, well, at least the fairest,” Amber interrupted. “Aww...well, I guess you're right,” Ash gave in. “I guess,” Misty said. “Okay, now that that’s settled, what should we do first?” Brock asked. “I just wanna walk around, you know, and check out France right now,” Misty said. “I could go for that,” Brock said. “Me too,” Ash said. “Mind if I come too?” Amber asked. “Sure! Actually, I INSIST that you come with us!” Brock said. “Thanks! Just gimme a sec to change. One moment please...” Amber said as she went back to her room to change clothes. Less than a minute later (in the Anime world, mind you)...”Okay!” Amber said as she came out dressed in a dark blue denim skirt that went just above the knees (along with a belt for her pokéballs) with a matching vest, a blue T-shirt, white tennis shoes, and her hair done in a pony tail (like Lita/Sailor Jupiter’s, and she would've looked a lot like her, but her hair was a reddish-brown color, and it wasn't as dark as Sailor J's). She was also wearing a mini backpack containing some money, her room keys, and a camera. (If any of you were wondering, Ash, Misty, and Brock were basically wearing the same type of clothes they wore 4 years ago) Also, she sported a pair of eyeglasses (I forgot to mention those earlier, didn't I?) which actually looked quite elegant on her. “Hmm...that was...fast. Now let’s get going!” Misty said. “Okay,” Ash said. “Hey Amber, you sure look pretty...” Brock started. Misty proceeded to use her trusty mallet. WHAM! “Oww...” Brock said as he rubbed his head. “Thanks Brock. And thanks Misty, but I think next time I can take care of it myself,” Amber said, holding her very own trusty mallet in her hands, even though she didn't really mind Brock. The 5 (remember Pikachu?) then took the elevator down to the lobby and went outside. As they were walking, Brock suddenly said, “...get your song made and a contract with Pokérecords Inc...” “What are you talking about, Brock?” Ash asked. “Oh, I was just reading that sign,” Brock said as he pointed out the sign he was reading from. It read: “ATTENTION EVERYBODY AGES 12 TO 22... We, the folks at Pokérecords Inc., are hosting a song writing contest and search for a singing duet. The grand prize is 1,000 dollars, plus an extra mystery prize. Of course, you also get your song made and a contract with Pokérecords Inc. (Please see inside the store for details).” “Let’s check it out!” Misty said. "I didn't know Pokérecords had a division in France," Amber commented. "I didn't even know there WAS a Pokérecords, period" Ash said. "Why am I not surprised..." Misty responded. "Hey! I bet you didn't know that either, Misty!" Ash exclaimed. “Pika pi chu ka pika! (Don't even think about starting, you two!)” Pikachu warned. "Fine." Ash said, not wanting to be electrocuted. "I wonder what the mystery prize is..." Misty wondered. So they proceeded to enter the record store. “So we just have to fill in these forms to register, then we submit our song and someone will judge it?” Misty asked. “Yes, and if you're one of the final contestants, you'll be asked to sing your song aloud, and the judges also take your singing ability into consideration as well,” a woman working at the store said. “Would you like to register? You don't have to submit your song when you register, you can do that later.” “No thanks,” Brock said. “I don't think I will either,” Ash said. “Well, I'd like to register, please,” Misty said. “Yeah, me too. I'd like to give it a try,” Amber said. “Your name, please?” “Misty Waterflower.” “Amber Raswing.” “Age?” “16.” “19.” “Phone number?” “Will hotel room phone number do? We're here on vacation,” Misty asked. “Yes, hotel room phone number is fine,” replyed the woman. “Um...here it is," Misty said after looking through her bag. "687-9034. I think they'll connect you if you tell them what room. Room 173.” “And I'm in room 175 of the same hotel.” “Okay, thank you. Here’s your registration card. Just sign your signature and show it when you submit your song,” the woman said as she handed Amber and Misty each a registration card. They each then signed their signature and placed the card in their bags. “Are you two done yet? Can we go now?” Ash complained. “Yeah, we're done here,” Misty replied. After Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Brock and Amber exited the store, a couple entered . "I saw the girl register for this contest. We have to use every chance we get to try to scare her off before she finds out about the Boss' plans," Jessie said. "Do you mean that we have to register, too?" James asked. Jessie nodded. They walked up to the registration counter. “Would you like to register?” the woman behind the counter asked. “Yeah, that's why we're at the registration area," Jessie replyed. “Name?” “Allow us to introduce ourselves...” “To protec- hey, Meowth, what do you think you're doing?!” Jessie yelled. “We're here ta register, not ta cause trouble! We were told ta register without suspicion! Get it? No trouble!” Meowth yelled. “Trouble? Make that doub- ah!!” James said, trying to avoid Meowth’s claws. “Ahem,” the woman said impatiently, “Name, please?” “Jessie, the gorgeous one!” The woman sweatdropped and wrote down “Jesse.” Jessie saw her write that and yelled, “Jessie! With an ‘ie’! Not just an ‘e’! JessIe! JessIe!” “Um, I apologize,” the woman said as she erased the ‘e’ and put an ‘ie’, “There, better now?” “Much.” “And your partner’s name?” “James.” James said. “Age?” “21.” “You too?” she asked as she pointed to James. “Yes.” They went through the same thing Misty and Amber did, and then they left. “Now our motto will be even more famous than it already is! World famous!” Jessie and James said as they exited. "But wasn't the point of entering to interfere with the girl?" Meowth questioned as he followed. >>>TO BE CONTINUED. . . ***Disclaimer*** Pokémon and all related characters are © Nintendo, Gamefreak, 4 Kids Entertainment, etc. Don't sue, I have no money.
